1 medium onion, chopped

2 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 1/2 cups water

Cut kernels from cobs with a sharp knife, then cut cobs into thirds.

Cook onion and garlic in butter with 1/4 teaspoon salt in a large heavy saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onion is softened, about 5 minutes. Add corn and cobs, water, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper and simmer, uncovered, 20 minutes.

Discard cobs, then purée corn mixture in batches in a blender until very smooth (use caution when blending hot liquids). Force soup through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl, discarding solids.

Chill until cold, at least 1 hour. Thin with water if desired and season with salt.

A Change in Lifestyle - Exercise

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

I just started an exercise regimen recently because I want to have some changes in my lifestyle. I started getting fat and suffering high blood in the previous month, and my doctor always reminded me to take some appropriate exercise so that I keep fit. It was not easy at first, because I was always hooked to sedentary activities. Instead of doing the exercises at home, I decided to take up gym classes so that I can meet others and perhaps boost my motivation to a better health.

I was right about it – I met some friends in that gym and we often challenged each other.

Getting Slim from Aerobic Sessions

Friday, August 1st, 2008

I’m getting fat – probably from work – so I decided to spend the time after work in a gym. I enrolled in an aerobic class and I feel better after each class. I sweat it all out after each great session and I feel so good!

I was able to regain my weight after a few months. I still decided to stick with the great workout because I’d probably be back to my old ways that will make me again fat. I’m fortunate that I have friends who encouraged me to go and pursue this goal. Without this motivation then I’d probably get lost again.
